As in-country hosts for the CDAC Network's Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme (DEPP) in the Philippines, World Vision Philippines have developed a set of four short, user-friendly 'Good Enough Guides' on engaging with children in emergency preparedness and response. The four guides cover the 'what' 'where' 'when' and 'how' of communication and community engagement with a focus on children. Specifically, the four guides cover:

  • Providing children with access to safe and responsive feedback and complaints mechanisms
  • Engaging children at every stage of the emergency response cycle
  • Knowing the media landscape before and after a disaster
  • Conducting pre- and post-crisis Information, Communication and Accountability Assessments (ICAAs) for children

The short guides are between one and two pages in length, and are useful for humanitarian staff looking to better engage with children in disaster management.

This material has been developed for the Philippines Community of Practice on Community Engagement by World Vision Philippines, with funding from UK aid on behalf of the CDAC Network, as part of the Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme.
